Meg and Ede
Citroen DS
Why I wrote Goddess...

Synopsis
"A film for everyone who has experienced life"

On hearing of the sudden, drug-induced death of her beloved friend Nicky, Meg returns to London to seek comfort from her estranged best friend, Ede, whom she has been avoiding for the past three years.

Following Nicky's funeral and still in deep mourning, Meg and Ede decide to travel to the South of France. They see the journey as an opportunity to rebuild their friendship and deal with their grief.

Driving a Citroen DS through the winding roads of France, Meg and Ede are forced to confront their fears. Buried memories resurface and an old relationship is rekindled and rebuilt. Excitement and endurance characterise their journey as they learn to appreciate each other and the classic car that transports them.

Interlaced with often amusing flashbacks of drug-induced jubilation, Goddess is set in the lavish landscape of the South of France. Goddess is a film about recreational drug taking, death, love and communication, at the heart of which lies deeper understanding of grief and the nature of true friendship.

"What is Goddess?"
"Goddess is a Road Movie that features the 'greatest car ever made!'".

Goddess is a light-hearted Road Movie about beauty and death, risk, blame and forgiveness. With strong essences of Thelma and Louise, Withnail and I and Sideways, Goddess examines the themes of lost friendship and rekindled and renegotiated love. Two women, in the hope of leaving their pasts behind them, set off on a journey to Provence in a Citroen DS.

Goddess is an independent motion picture shot in contemporary London and the South of France. The film focuses on individuality and the relationships we consider will last a lifetime. It presents a comedic view on close companionship and, despite two tragic drug-induced deaths, shows the amusing side of recreational drug use. The film maintains a fun and quirky quality throughout, holding the viewer's attention away from ponderous realms.
